In-The-Ear (ITE)

These hearing instruments rest inside the ear rather than behind it. The small size of these aids offers a very discreet style and are mostly used for people with mild to severe hearing losses.

Behind-The-Ear (BTE)

These instruments are appropriate for hearing losses from mild to profound. Directional microphones, multiple listening programs, tele-coil, and Bluetooth® compatibility are available features. Are you tired of not being able to hear the ones you love?  Do you have to turn up the volume on the TV or radio all the time?  Do you find it challenging to understand conversations, particularly when out in public?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, chances are good that you are dealing with hearing loss. Fortunately, our ENT doctors and Audiologists are no strangers to diagnosing and treating hearing loss. In fact, one of the most common ways to improve patients’ hearing is with a hearing aid. While a hearing aid isn’t meant to cure your hearing loss, this electronic device, which can be worn either inside or behind the ear, is used to amplify sounds to help make hearing those around you much easier. A hearing aid is designed to magnify sound vibrations as they enter the ear regardless of whether the wearer is in a quiet or noisy environment. As a result, a hearing aid will allow you to finally enjoy being part of the conversation again.

So, how do you know if you need a hearing aid?

If you are dealing with hearing loss then the best thing you can do is visit one of our Otolaryngologists for a proper medical evaluation. We will be able to identify the cause and severity of your hearing loss and also help you choose the best hearing aid for your individual hearing loss. In our offices, we offer an array of hearing aid designs to cater to all your lifestyle needs. There are many factors to consider when choosing the hearing aid for your personal hearing loss. Our professional medical hearing team is here to help you determine the right one for you.

If you are dealing with hearing loss in both ears, it is typically recommended that you get hearing aids for both ears. Hearing aids are most successful for patients when worn for suit each specific hearing loss. Since hearing loss can and usually does vary by ear, matching a hearing aid to each specific hearing loss will help you to locate where the sound is coming from. Hearing aids range in price, but cost shouldn’t be the only factor when it comes to getting your hearing device. Style, comfort, and special features are just some other factors to consider when shopping around for the perfect hearing aid.
